The beach at Sandymouth is very photogenic and it is easy to be seduced into shooting the first thing you see. Sometimes you have to work quickly but, wherever possible, I prefer to take some time to get a feel for the landscape. Here it was the interconnected pools with their repeating curves that caught my eye. The clouds were blowing through quickly, which enabled me to choose a moment when the sky and the land were nicely balanced.
